Side ways ejection seats could be an option for mid-deck - but the money could be better spent on the EELV capsule and Dark Horse -

A simple bailout indicator with an on off switch, independent accelerometers hand set before launch or entry, big red,yellow, green indicator, battery powered, attached next to the hatch handle, no mechanical changes - seems right to me
