I've been keeping an eye on this story for a couple of years now, PBS and The Discovery Channel had segments and complete programs on it. PBS ran an Episode of Nova concerning this about two years ago.

While I'm not sure if it should be done, I am certain it will be done sooner or later.

During the discussion of the attempt to clone the Mammoth, the matter of the Saber Toothed cats came up. One of the Biologists interveiwed was trying to find enough complete DNA strands to attempt cloning a Sabertooth. Another was looking at Passenger Pgieons, andother at the Dodo.

Restoring extict species is a worthy goal, finding a place to put them is another discussion altogether. Especially a large predator, with absolutely no fear of humans.
