I surely appreciate the need for maximum security on airplanes
But I think that since firearms can be used (either on purpose or accidentally through their normal use) to threaten the entire plane (shooting holes through windows, hydraulics, electronics, etc.), and since we are dealing with folks who intend to die anyway, and since every year some cops end up (one way or another) providing badguys with firearms... that a better, and more technological solution should be pursued.
