Good questions all, David -- as might be expected.
Will North Korea attack South Korea?
Not without substantial support, at least equivalent to the United States of America (AKA China)
If so, with or without nukes?
Depends on China’s roll. Without China, and thrust to the south will be minor, and without the use of nukes.
What would the South Korean response be in either case?
Fight to win. South Korea has been an excellent student of U.S. goals and freedom.
Will the current régime in North Korea survive the next decade (in the absence of war)?
Certainly. The brainwashed public love him. He is, after all, God.
Will the population of North Korea revolt against the Kim Jong-Il government?
No way. Should, however, China join with North Korea in an offensive against the south, the resulting war and UN response may be the catalyst for an internal revolution.
What should the USA do in the Korean Peninsula?
Continue as we have. We will hope for a resolution to the DMZ and work with South Korea in the rejoining the two separate entities of North and South. It will remain a long process.
