"It's required to conceal the fact that their philosophy is that of collectivism. In fact, the success of leftism and liberalism relies on people not understanding fully exactly where they are coming from"
The real sad part is that most people who consider themselves liberals have no real idea of what the root philosophy of the modern Democratic Party is. The react on emotions, habits, memories of the old Party, peer pressure, and what other people tell them.
Not many get past the idea of "people should get medical care," something everyone agrees on, and move on to thinking about how one can possibly justify forcing others to provide it, and if there may be alternatives to that. They skim along on the surface of their ideas. And hell, why not? It's not because they're stupid. Most of them have a lot more urgent things on their mind than philosophy and politics to deal with.
For the record, this same statement, with different specifics, is also true of most conservatives.
Philosophy and politics are low on the list for most people, which is what makes them easy prey for those who carry such things very high on their own priority list. Both Left and Right.
The people on this board are exceptions to the rule, which is probably why this board attracts them.
The main function of the Constitution was to create a system of government that made it difficult for government to do things to its citizens. The Founding Fathers knew that government, by its nature, would attract people who wanted power.
BTW:
1. The fact that not everything is black and white does not automatically lead to the conclusion that nothing is.
2. Granny Weatherwax wrong? Don't let her hear you say that.
