Enterprise returns to Earth so the crew can go on "shore leave". The crew scatters to their favorite retreats while Captain Archer puts together a camping party for a more rustic vacation getaway in the mountainous woods of western Canada. They have no weapons, no tricorders, no communicators -- just camping gear and some survival items. They are on their own for several days.

Meanwhile an alien vessel of unknown origin has intruded into Sector 001. The aliens have cloaking devices for their ship and bodysuits that cannot be detected, they even bend light to make them hard to see. They have been to other worlds, and they have been here before, for hundreds of centuries, the last time was in the late twentieth century. They come to hunt their prey, to mount their bones as trophies - a monument to their hunting skill, and key to stratification of power in their tribes. Some of the bones in their trophy room look wholly alien, others look like strange variations of terrestrial animals, and a few look distinctively ape-like.
