You probably saw the article in last weekend's Mercury-News about how the state Democrats aren't comfortable with Davis's chances, and they're threatening to break ranks and come up with other Democratic challengers.

The one that really tickled my fancy was Arianna Huffington, the "reformed conservative" as the paper put it. I've always liked her, even when she was a right-wing harpy, before she saw the light. She's been approached but is playing coy, promising to give an answer in a couple of weeks. I hope she enters the race. Can you imagine a brief, intense campaign with Arianna running against The Terminator? That would be an election to remember!
