Maybe the Internet was built for DARPA, but it was built by governement. And now it is essential to commerce.
The GPS system was put in place by government. The private sector has done marvelous things by taking that resource and expanding its capabilities. But it came from government.
I spent a good piece of my life working on remote sensing technology, also initiated by government but now a money-making tool for the private sector.
Communications satellites, NASA, the airline industry's infrastructure, we could go on and on.
But its not just gov vs biz.
The people who actually DO the work, the sweat and the brains that make this country work, are not just replaceable, troublesome, interchangeable, mindless pathetic little robots that heroic entrepreneurs set in motion and put through the motions while they are doing the real creative work.
How about some respect?
