Iraqi justice system starts to mend

Actually, the Iraqi justice system isn't just mending, it's undergoing a complete overhaul. Just one more step in the long process of removing the barriers that have long prevented the Iraqi people from building Iraq into the crown jewel of the Arab Middle-east.

Iraqi justice system starts to mend

Iraqi judges are now free to apply justice instead of enforcing the whims of a bloody Baath party dictator, and only low-level Baath party members may remain on as judges.

No more forced confessions (i.e. torture).

Iraqis have the right to counsel upon arrest, and the right to remain silent.

A public-defender program will be introduced for low-income Iraqis.

The death penalty has been suspended (I know I’ll hear a few liberal wisecracks about this…”if we’re getting rid of the death penalty in Iraq then why not do the same in…Texas?")
