I'm sure that some will make light of this but it does show that big things can be well hidden and difficult to find. It is an example of the mindset of this regime to go to the trouble of burying Jets. Do we really think that only Jets were hidden.

Iraqi fighter jets found buried Aug 1 2003

US teams hunting for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq have found dozens of the country's air force fighter jets buried beneath the sands.

One Pentagon official said several Cold War-era MiG-25s interceptors and Su-25 ground attack jets were buried at al-Taqqadum air field, west of Baghdad.

He said minimal effort had been taken to protect the aircraft from the sand, and that it was not clear if they would ever be able to fly again.

US military officials have suggested Iraqi pilots stayed grounded because they knew they were overmatched by British and American air power.

Allied warplanes bombed several planes on the ground, and US officials say no Iraqi planes were detected flying combat missions during the war.

Porter Goss, chairman of the US House Intelligence Committee, said the discovery showed how far the Iraqi forces went to conceal their activities.

"Our guys have found 30-something brand new aircraft buried in the sand to deny us access to them," he said. "These are craft we did not know about."

He said the planes were not the weapons of mass destruction the coalition has been searching for, "but they are weapons (Iraq) tried to hide."
