It seems to me that waging wwII style war in Iraq would have damned the cause of democracy not promoted it. The Iraqi joe on the street hated Saddam Hussein. That wasn't the case with Germany and Japan. In Japan the emporer was a God, in Germany the Fuhrer was close to it. In Iraq, Saddam was a tyrant. To wage WWII style warfare in Iraq would have been piling hurt on top of hurt. I think we fought exactly as we should have. Now we need to double our efforts against the Saddam supporters left over in Iraq so the country can start pulling itself up by the bootstraps.
