Gee R.L. seems a lot of folks on this BBS are imporessed with man to Mars polls etc..why not this one?
You are rtight though, reality has NEVER been a democracy. And that goes for what happened with the Viking mission in 1976. The majority of scientists announced to the world that no "evidence" for life on Mars was found, when in fact real evidence was found, not proof, but definite evidence. Two of the Viking biology team said definite evidecne was found in their experiment. However, NASA chose to operate as a democracy is this case. Odd isnt it?
Organics and oxidants. Answer those two questions about Mars and we will know what Levin found. Why not answer them then? Note MER's carry no instruments to elucidate on this. How come? Why is Beagle 2 the only mission with these kinds of instruments? You would think NASA would want to know -- absolutely whether organics and oxidants exist on Mars. MAOS and MECA were both canned during the Goldin Administration. Now, MECA is back on the Phoenix mission. However, Beagle 2 will have already beated NASA to the punch by a few years if they find organics in December 2003.
