Old scandal....
A few months ago it was revealed that they detected olivine in Valles Marineris. Apparently olivine is unstable in the presence of water (Nick Hoffman could provide the straight scoop concerning this). The discovery of olivine was viewed by many as "case closed" for the warm-and-wet theory. This new discovery of low level carbonates is just another stake through the heart.
