The Evolution of Intelligence: An Integral Part of SETI and Astrobiology

Points out key questions, but plays coy with the results which have yet to be published. Anybody want to bet on the results?

I bet the study shows no strong trend towards increasing intelligence past about 30 million years ago.

Hope they get to continue the study on other groups. I applaud SETI for tackling this issue. While I know most of these people really want to discover intelligent life they seem quite willing to explore and debate concepts that mught make it unlikely. It's great to see people applying science principles rigorously rather than digging in on their pet theories like Levin and Hoyle.
