Our Moon's own moons
There are 4 moons orbiting our Moon!
The first was launched on march 31 1966:
Luna 10.
The second was launched on july 19 1967
Explorer 35. .It was put in a 32 degrees inclined moon orbit and worked for 6 years!.
The third was launched on june 10 1973:
Explorer 49.
The fourth was launched much more recently on january 24 1990, (but never really sent data and is from Japan: Hagoromo, the small ball atop Hiten.
Their value is more philosophical than scientific (they're silent, now, of course).
Looking up at the Moon and tracing the orbits of the four lunar probes can provide us with a sense of wonder and a glimpse of how humankind changed the Moon forever.
Tjey're the Moon's own moons.
