Interesting reading from a CBC documentary

But Ali was happy to see Saddam go. His father had been conscripted to fight in the war with Iran and never returned. Ali blames Saddam for his death.

Ali Naim: "Thanks to Allah we got rid of Saddam. If a person observed prayers and fasting...if a person mentioned his name, he (soldiers) used to arrest him and execute him. Thanks to Allah who took him."

Had Ali changed his mind about the Americans?

Ali Naim: "The Americans are absolute hypocrites. When Saddam was in power they supported him. It was not in their interest to come here and get rid of Saddam…They wanted to get rid of him not because he was evil but because of the oil. If Iraq had no oil, they would not have come."
