I try to avoid posting from DEBKAfile unless I have some confirming data from other sources. One exception is analysis that is interesting or insightful even if the facts turn out to be bogus. And it's too bad, too. A lot of their stuff is fascinating, like the good UFO sites, and Lord knows it tends to make the prowar side look good.
As one example, the most recent mainstream press word is that the Kay report is being held up, and the theory is that they found little or nothing. Compare this to the DEBKAfile take on Kay's work. Whoa...quite a difference, huh? But I have seen such things nowhere else, so it's so much fluff.
I don't see why it's relevant that the "flypaper" strategy was planned before the war, or developed in response to ongoing events. Has any war in history ever gone according to an exact plan, without the generals and leaders having to think on their feet under some circumstances as things change? The antiwar folks have raised the bar pretty damn high by insisting that we should have been prepared in advance for every aspect of postwar Iraq. We were surprised by a number of things, and adapted quite well in my opinion.
