I'm sorry, I must have missed the part of the Constitution that made child care a Federal problem. This should be dealt with at the state level, if not locally. And it is NOT an "entitlement."
If you want to do something to help families get by, please take note of the fact that the tax burden on the average family has doubled since 1955, from 18 percent up to 39 percent of income. The main burden is ever-increasing taxes for entitlements. The average family has 25 percent less disposable income now due solely to taxes.
I have noticed an interesting mindset in the liberal: if the Federal government isn't doing it, it won't get done. Every time someone tries to move a program or regulation out of the Federal jurisdiction and into a local one, the reaction from the Left is exactly the same as if it had been thrown out the window. Does your city have a day care program for the poor? Do you know or care?
The rest is just rewarmed class warfare crap. Who cares if Grasso got $140 million? It didn't come out of my pocket, or yours. "Eat the Rich" was obsolete fifty years ago. Get over it.
Tax cuts grow the economy. Tax cuts ARE growing the economy, which is why the Democrats are getting desperate to kill them, hopefully without leaving their own fingerprints on the corpse. You can't get out of a financial hole unless you do it with more productivity, not with further crippling of the productive.
By the way, please feel free to check with the owner of your local machine shop and ask him what he thought of the tax cuts. He got some back too, you know.
