Are we early for the time of space, and chomping at the bit?
Or was Apollo the 20th century equivalent of the pyramids?
For a tech revolution to take place, some critical mass of social and technical factors must converge. I think that is where we are now.
Or it could be that Apollo was simply a large monument to public works, like the pyramids in Egypt?
Then one must rememebr that the pyramid concept may have been grandly exectued in Africa as a public work of antional scale, but Pyramids as a structure were very prevalent in many forms across mesoamerica and were a local and current product....
I think inevitably we are going to be in space. The opportunity os too great. It is clear our social structure does not currently support the tech we ahve available, social structures change.
Space is the great ocean, and all we have done until now is preparation to enter it.

Are we waiting on the time of trains, or did we build movable pyramids?
