re: the entitlements are their money

I'm not going to drag you through the real economics of Social Security, including comparing the outlay to the amount of the tax cuts. It would be like kicking a puppy. Suffice it to say, Social Security has been a welfare program, i.e. direct transfer of wealth from taxpayers to recipients, for many years. Few people are naive enough to think they are actually paying into some kind of "insurance" or "trust fund."

Tell ya what:

If it's my own money, I'll make the government a deal: Let me out of the system, so I don't have to pay in any more, and don't get benefits, and we'll call it even. If the deal were fair, I'd get back the money I paid in, but heck, keep it. No worse than the hundreds of thousands I've already dumped down your ratholes.

Sound good? Bring that idea up to a Democratic politician and see what he says. HE knows its a welfare program.
