Hi All
New Scientist has this interesting news bite here...

...apparently some researchers have let their imaginations run wild and have claimed to have formed something like proto-cells from plasma. While I am sceptical I have often considered plasma based lifeforms to be a reasonable hypothesis. If the researchers are correct about the stability and longevity of their creations then plasma beings have a decent chance of happening in nature.
So I wonder if there is a link between "plasmon" lifeforms and alien-abductionism? I'm not a UFO looney, but I have looked into the abduction thing and a reasonable hypothesis is that certain people have had their brains stimulated by concentrated magnetic fields causing the usual abduction experience - as suggested by the transcranial magnetic stimulation work of Dr Michael Persinger. He has induced various features of the abduction experience via brain stimulation and has suggested stable plasmas - as associated with earthquake zones - might be the true cause of abductions.
But what if the plasmas are alive and trying to communicate with us?
Not abduction but contact anyway? Since our modes of life are so different it might explain the apparent irrationality of the whole abduction phenomenon.
Just a few musings. James Blish, of course, beat me to this idea years ago.
