re: No Evidence of Smallpox Found in Iraq

Given the story as written, it is not surprising that it was suspected that activity was still going on at the former biological labs. Cobwebs don't show up on satellite photos, and I suspect the looter trucks (if that's what they were) were not clearly marked on their roof as "LOOTER."

Does it bother anyone that over the past decade or so Iraq was full of facilities and programs for developing chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, regardless of whether they had been finally dismantled by the U.N. or found empty? I keep reading about how this weapons facility or that biowarfare facility was "unused," or "abandoned." Hey, who built them in the first place? And why?

If I was a cop, and searching the house of a known violent felon, I would not be highly reassured by finding a stash of old automatic weapons with no ammunition, and dust all over them.

I cannot believe that the "weather balloon trailer" idea is still floating around (pun intended.) I researched this myself, and whatever the trailers were, they weren't the ones Marconi sold as part of an artillery ranging system, and they don't look anything like current systems by other manufacturers. I can go over this again if people are having trouble with this simple idea. Does anyone have links to the original "intelligence sources" for this?
