Dr. Robert Bakker not a Dr in ecology
When a food chain is stressed the top of the chain goes first. He may be a first class paleontologist but he knows squat about ecology. Maybe he should ask himself why those that survived were primarily the small, the cold blooded, and/or slow growing. Large numbers and/or slow metabolism increases the likelihood of survival through a period of ecological stress. There's a reason his opinion is not in the majority.
I know why you like this theory - No data to support it. Barry's favorite theory is always the one that ignores accepted data and goes for the one with the least possible support.
