Let's suppose I'm Jack or Gene and I just started another Moonwalk.
The gold visor is still up, as I'm in the LM's shadow, but in a few seconds, I'm going to have to put the gold visor down.
But to do that, I need to exert some force on my spacesuit, just to raise my right arm, and the gloved hand does the rest.
The resting position is actually with arms bent forward like a foetal position and this even on 1/6th of a G!
Those arms as well as my legs are completely covered with dust and there's no way out of it. I should be careful with the moving parts, not to get them dirty.
My fingers hurt from constantly touching the gloves, several fingers were actually bleeding yesterday.
Funny, every step I make, it's as if I were in weightlessness again, for a second, again floating in the spacesuit, but it's only a fraction of earth's gravity, so it's quite confortable, here.
The reflected light on the surface is really too brilliant and I had a little head ache because of that, yesterday, so I should be careful.
Visor down, then? But how am I going to recognize the subtle color differences of the rocks and the visor has scratches, which will hinder my visibility.
Talking about what I see...A brilliant tone of gray, brown (depending on the sun angle) and mountains with 26° gentle slopes. And it's impossible to figure out how far they are (yes, I know them from the training but otherwise, I wouldn't be able to tell).
Rocks, rocks all sizes, all distances, everywhere..
And the darkest starless dark in the sky!
Ah but, up there, our home, the blue marble, an emotional magnet with its beauty, its meaning to us and its huge contrast with this environment.
And what do I hear? The capcom and my companion here (all the time) but with cracks and beeps on the radio!); No, I'm not alone and I also hear the air flow in my spacesuit!
My 4 days old beard is itching a bit, with the Snoopy cap strap right on it.
Also, because of that damn water we drink, my bowels are full of air and luckily no one can hear me nor smell me, but I'll keep it to myself.
Ok, well let's move ..hh wow, that's fun..a jump and here I go bouncing on the Moon and here are the instructions on the glove; I'd better follow them and start working.
All those thoughts were shared by moonwalkers and everyone had this or that remark about how they felt on the Moon.
