"I only know so far what I read in this article, but I think Bush needs to drastically separate himself from this outfit as soon as possible. Not sure how that would be done most effectively. This may be legal, but it's politically stupid, given the crap that's already floating around about cronyism. These guys are not doing the Bush administration any favors, and Bush should tell them so, privately at first, and publicly if necessary.
Of course, if you're one of those screwballs who think this is all just another small part of Bush's Evil Master Plan to Make Big Cash Off Iraq, then the preceding paragraph doesn't mean anything to you. "
Why do you say this? According to article:
"New Bridge President John Howland said in a story on The New York Times’ Web site that the company did not intend to seek any U.S. government contracts itself, but might be a middleman to advise other companies that seek taxpayer-financed business. The main focus would be to advise companies that seek opportunities in the private sector in Iraq, including licenses to market products there. "
If these guys instead started a company that helped space companies get launch licences, would this be a problem?
It seems to me that these guys a in the business of helping companies deal with all the red tape having to do with getting these contracts. Now, it would *nice* if the govt wouldn't have all this red tape [and probably the main general purpose of the red tape is reduce competition].
