BAGHDAD, Iraq, Oct. 4 — Former Iraqi soldiers charged at U.S. troops and Iraqi police Saturday during a protest to demand jobs and back pay. The Americans and Iraqis fired shots to disperse the crowd, and at least one person died of a gunshot wound, witnesses and a hospital official said. In a separate incident, a 4th Infantry Division soldier was killed and one was wounded in an attack in southeast Baghdad, the U.S. military reported.
