An appropriate response
Instead of taking action against Palestinians in Gaza or the West Bank, this very appropriate response avoids casualties among innocent Palestinian civilians. It also sends a signal to other Middle East nations that Israel wants to avoid a renewed escalation of conflict in the territories. I suspect that the Syrians aren't particularly all that upset to see Islamic Jihad targeted withi their borders. Its a very measured, calculated and shrewed response.
