One of the most boring experiences known to man (pun intended) is accompanying my wife while she's shopping. My wife is the kind of shopper who loves to go into a store and examine every leaf on every plant. In the meantime, it's all I can do to avoid lapsing into a boredom-induced coma.
A new shopping center opened about a mile from my home. The developers managed to create an entire shopping center with exactly one store that appeals to men (Sharper Image). Sure, we could go hang out in a sports bar (Champs) or one of the other restaurants but that isn't a good long-term option. In other words, a trip to this shopping center is an excursion into male-hell. There isn't even a book store. Sheesh.
Other than going out to eat (or to try to get some of the goodies at Sharper Image), I doubt I'll be spending any time at that shopping center. My wife can go there by herself or with her friends.

This could be a Godsend
