...it won't result in much international aid to relieve the burden on U.S. troops and taxpayers. The Europeans are only expected to offer up around $232 million and Pakistan has declined to send troops - a key disappointment for the U.S..
But what the resolution does do is strengthen the credibility of the U.N. and helps to restore our damaged relationships with France, Germany and Russia. Its a step in the right direction. Congratulations are due to Mr. Powell for deftly finding consensus on this compromise. It will help to serve the interests of the people of Iraq.
