SOHO's images are simply excellent. However the movies (Mpegs) of the Sun are beyond words. I had no clue about the Sun's basic character until I began viewing those SOHO mpegs. To my eyese, the closeups showing the photosphere and sunspots looks similar to an ocean surface during a violent storm. That's the main thing that strikes me about the Sun, i.e. extreme chaotic violence. It's interesting that most of the galaxy's matter is chaotic, ionizied atomic gas. The organized world of molecular chemisty with liquid and solid phase states constituting our everyday experience is totally atypical to how most of the galaxy operates. It's remarkably that the Laws of Physics contain this tirivial and insiginificant little "loop hole" that permits us to exist.
