Lileks talks about how an old song can bring back memories of specific times and places. Nothing new, but still an interesting phenomenon.

Music radio would play the same things over and over again during a certain time period, so it's like certain songs would get "planted" in your head for certain parts of your life.

In my case, Al Stewart's "Maggie" brings back a lot of college memories. Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" was the background for my time working at Foxjet. I remember sitting in the mockup with big dreams. The smell of fiberglas resin can bring back the same memories.

Those are the only two that come to mind, but I'm sure there are a lot more.
