Clearly, Bush Jr finds himself in a delimna.
If he cuts funds to the Sharon government, he knows he will come under political attack for everything else but cutting funds to the Sharon government. He knows he will also face intense opposition by some activists within his own party.
If he does nothing, he knows that any process towards a peace agreement is pretty much stopped. Down the road, the possibility of nuclear arms sales by Pakistan to Saudi Arabia comes into view, along with expulsion of US troops and the creation of sanctuaries from which to mount attacks on the US. Then there is also the possible flight from the US dollar and possible effects on US energy supplies.
Like every US President for the last several decades, Bush Jr finds this problem taking up all his time and energy.
You have here 2 traumatized peoples, religious fervor, and weapons of mass destruction either available (Israel) or near at hand...
You can't discuss the issues, as you risk being labeled anti-semetic; our politicians are afraid to clearly state were they stand on Israel and the West Bank and Gaza, and our journalists are afraid to ask.
If anybody has any other solution which does not result in millions of barbequed children, then please do share it... Whoever is working this is really earning their paycheck, and I wish them the best of luck...
