expendable
You have to wonder how the public would react today to a situation like Corregidor in 1941 where 15,000 men were left to inevidable death or capture. They were considered expendable for the purpose of delaying the Japanese for a few days.
Can you imagine the reaction if Bush were to even use the word expendable in the same sentence with US forces.
