Dan Goldin threatens B.U. with a lawsuit. Here's one lawyer's rebuttal...

"[Dan Goldin] said that he would be ready if the trustees wanted a fight. "Please know that I am advised by my personal attorney and by distinguished Boston counsel I have recently hired as to my rights," he wrote. "I take those rights very seriously and will protect them vigorously." He also reminded the trustees that he had a "binding contract."

Reaction: Yawn. Dan, when you pretend to be thinking like a lawyer, you make a good whatever-it-is that you are supposedly kind of good at. It's not law, though. First of all, Dan, did B.U. know it was getting such an abrasive, mentally unstable truth-twister for all that money? Or did you hide those details for a while like you've hidden many others over the years when it suited you to do so? Of course you did. So why shouldn't B.U. be allowed to rescind the contract, just like a cow-breeder can after mistakenly buying an infertile cow that was meant for breeding purposes? Meanwhile, as if your labor contract lacked a severance clause? Did you honestly hope to be B.U.'s president for life like you aspired to be Administrator for life at NASA? Dream on. And as for your detrimental reliance, how about Boston University's? Yes Dan, believe it or not, the universe doesn't actually revolve around YOU. That university needs to recover and cut its losses. Not that a multi-millionaire like you who profited from exploiting taxpayers through years of government contracting would care, though. But that's all the more reason why you're not suited for the mission of being B.U.'s chief caretaker. Give it up, Dan. You don't deserve nearly as much as you'll pretend to think that you do. Let B.U. find someone that's suitable for the job. There are plenty of willing and qualified candidates, no matter what your aspiring cronies perched within the B.U. faculty say. If anyone, why not sue D.C. lobbyist Gerald Cassidy for bringing you in under false pretenses while deceiving the rest of the board into thinking you would make a suitable president?
