You do notice that most of your replacements tell the story just as well? Tone means a lot in a so-called "news" story, and so does selection of words.
While you're at it, let's see the evidence that shows that the rocket attack were from Iraqi "insurgents," as opposed to external forces.
Your replacing "insurgents" with the word "citizens" speaks volumes.
