re: planet / moon formation
I think the scientific community is in sort of a crisis if it's about explaining how planets and moons form.
Maybe it's a case by case explanation.
How did our Moon form is also not completely understood. Schmitt doen't agree with the prevailing collision theory.
How did Phobos and Deimos find themselves around Mars? Also, quite difficult to explain!
