Deadlines
Saturday, November 1, 2003 (New York):
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)—a UN energy agency—met on Friday, the day of Iran's deadline to prove it is not building nuclear weapons.
Mohamed ElBaradei, the Director-General of the IAEA said no conclusions could be drawn as yet since his team was still analysing and verifying the dossier handed over by Tehran last week. "This is a work in progress", he said.
DEADLINE?
I'm confused, what does "deadline to prove" mean? The UN sets a deadline and our old friend Mohamed Elbaradei says they met the deadline but apparently they have proved nothing. Why don't they just admit that they are extending the deadline for the weeks that it will take to analyze the information. While they are at it they could announce a schedule of future deadlines in the very likely event that the data proves nothing.
Oh well.....
