Where have you ever seen me say it was the moral thing to do?
It was, in my opinion, the best thing to do for our interests, neither moral or immoral and I believe in the long run it will be the best thing for the Iraqis, who were already living in hell. It was pragmatic. The morality of it will be judged by history, not by you or me.
After 9-11 we had the option of hunkering down or taking the fight to the enemy. If we had hunkered down we would eventually be fighting them in our cities. We are fighting them on their turf and we will beat them in spite of ivory tower pseudo-intellectuals that think they have cornered the market on morality but don't have a clue about the real world.
We "cowtow" to NK because the situation is different and they do have Nukes. They are in the China sphere of influence and they are not surrounded by or infiltrated by Islamic radicals. If the present administration appeared to have a single strategy for dealing with problems the screams would not be "why not NK" and you know it.
No one said the world is a safer place. The goal is to make it a safer place. We differ on how to manage that and tv has not one goddamn thing to do with it beyond the fact that I prefer it on tv, over up close and personal in my neighborhood. You apparently think we would have the moral high ground if it were my kids getting blown up. If so, screw you and your morality.
The youth of today is morally confused and it has nothing to do with our foreign policy. Anyone that thinks that is a boob. Try thinking about Presidents that are convicted liars and a society that promotes cultural confusion and sexual ambiguity.
What the frell is an intellectual coward? Is it a self proclaimed intellectual that cowardly hurls insults on the internet or is it a person that refuses to engage in pointless arguments? I have wasted the calories and all I will get from you is more insults and denial that any proof has been provided.
My interest here is to voice my opinion not to convince anyone of anything. God knows Tom has worn out his fingerprints offering the intellectual courage that you allude to and what does it get him? Some things are worthy of discussion but we have worn this subject out and all we have left is a daily show of hands.
I guess we are mutually disappointed.
