Zell's a Democrat but with the soul of a Republican.
He's the sort of Democrat my granddad was - where petty partisan politics was left at the local and regional levels and never came into play regarding national defense or serious issues. The sort of Democrat that seemed to evaporate at about the time Kennedy was killed & LBJ took office. My granddad really disliked LBJ and felt he destroyed the party.
As for Zell, his latest book makes him a pariah among his own party.
