Space/Science » in reply to Life on Mars is 'similar to Chilean desert'

"IS SIMILAR?!?"

Maybe we ought to find life on Mars first before suggesting it is similar.

Of course, while there may be surficial similarities between the Atacama desert and Mars, even the best environment on Mars is significantly colder and significantly drier. Not only that, the martian surface is exposed to significantly higher amounts of radiation. Meanwhile the atmosphere is significantly similar.

Its a nice attempt at a comparison, but in reality the Atacama doesn't even remotely resemble the environment at the surface of Mars.
