From the DOD news release:

Individuals who leak or purport to leak classified information are doing serious harm to national security; such activity is deplorable and may be illegal.

We all know that revealing classified information to unauthorized personnel is illegal, so I find the wording here very interesting.

DOD news release

All in all, a strange episode, and it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
