The main problem was that it was so damn high that it was hard to conceal yourself. Because the weapon was so big and bulky, to look through the objective while you are using a sandbag or log for cover would expose to much of your body. Notice in the gallery you don't see anyone in a fighting position, you only see one guy using a vertical tree for cover.
I like the G36 however (what its based on), i've looked a lot at its stats and for a while contemplated buying its civilian equivalent the SL-8. I don't know about its particular performance in harsh conditions but between a small extended eye relief scope/floated barrel/m16 magazine interoperability, its looks like a pretty good idea. But it looks like I will have to settle for the M4.
Its good to get a fully automatic rifle again though, the military is admiting now that the 3 round burst was just implemented to save money. But it would be good as well to at least have some weapons at a higher caliber, in other words we should not have moved to the M249 SAW/MINNIMI and improved/stayed with the M60, (of course, however, with me being MI, I've never had to carry either through a jungle, so stick with whatever Larry and Dans opinnion is on that)
