Shrink WRAP EXTERNAL Tank?
Among the other hair-brained ideas, I luv this one, how about wrapping the nose of the ET along with the leading edges of the carbon-carbon section of the wings with DUCT-TAPE??? Man, if it's good enough for the feds to say it'll stop a chem attack, it'll be bullet-proof for the shuttle!
