This is the real problem, yet again an excluded middle argument. There is something Orwellian about the Bush administration, also about lots of other governments. That's why Orwell wrote the book and why it became so popular and widely read.
You are implying that either the US is just like in the book or it has nothing to do with Orwell so the this is the excluded middle sophistry again. Bush has done some things that are Orwellian but of course not as advanced as the book. The TIA was a good example, as is the attempted rewriting of history by claiming different reasons for invading Iraq.
