Shuttle C designs have been around since before the first Shuttle flight.
When a space station was finally proposed (mid 80's), they came back.
But they were dismissed again.
The lift capacity of the shuttle technology is one of its best assets.
If the shuttle were to stop its flights, let's hope that asset will be preserved and exploited.
