Current Events » in reply to Bush to promote space initiative?

The "word" is that this will be a non-event

The story that's floating around is that on the Centenary of the Wright Brother's first flight, Bush will announce a new "Space Initiative". Supposably, Bush is politically obligated to do this because one of the conclusions from the Columbia Accident Investigation Board (CAIB) report was that NASA needs a real goal. So with great fanfare, Bush will announce that NASA will continue to do what it was planning on doing in the first place with no increase in funding and no real change in direction. In essence it will be a photo-opt and nothing more.

I will be pleasantly surprised if this dismal predicition is wrong.
