Back when I was a kid in Minnesota, there was a hot restaurant franchise, which I think was called the Quarterback Club or something like that. The buildings had tall, pointed roofs in the shape of and painted like half a football.
The franchise later went south, but for many years afterwards, there were real estate offices and other odd uses of buildings with a distinctive football roof shape, even if they were painted a solid color instead of like a football.
It also comes to my mind because, long before the dot-coms, it was the first example I had ever seen of a runaway stock. In one of our classes, we had "bought" stocks, picking them out and charting their progress on the wall. The kid who picked this one had four sheets of paper taped one above the other to track his "profits." Before the franchise went south, of course.
