US forces in Mosul have suffered three attacks in three days
Forty-one American soldiers have been injured in northern Iraq in a suicide car bomb explosion outside a US army base, the army says.
A spokesman for the 101st Airborne Division said the incident happened at a base in Tal Afar, west of Mosul.
Soldiers guarding the base fired on a vehicle that had failed to stop, said spokesman Major Trey Cate.
Unconfirmed reports say a US helicopter has also crashed in Falluja, a centre of anti-US resistance west of Baghdad.
