re: Religion and Politics

Just noticed this thread. Sorry about the delay.
When Rev. Al and Rev. Jesse are given as hard a time for polticking from the pulpit as Falwell is, I will have some confidence in the sincerity of the left.
When we once again admit that this is Christmas time, and not a 'winter holiday', I will begin to believe in the freedom of religion that is assured in the Constitution.
As to religious expression by elected office holders, I again point out the historical fact that nearly every President has made religious expressions.
As they are allowed to do by the Constitution.
Most Americans are religious, and they are not required to stop being religious when they are elected.
Nor are they required to be censored by a board to assure that their speech offers nothing that anyone would perceive as being 'religious' in content.
They are simply not permitted to create a state funded church. Nor should the state in anyway be permitted to censor the free excercise of religion inthe pubic square. Which is done daily in this country.
That some judge thinks they ahve the right to censor our free expression in the public square is an historical anaomally that should be ended asap.
That the state is permitted to be biased against people on the basis of what they want to study in school is outrageous.

That a tiny group of extremists wish to censor the free expression of people is not historically unusual, but is rather sad.
BTW, VA benefits have been paying for people to study theology for as long as those benfits have existed.
And that is perfectly constitutional as well.
The imposition of secular censorship on this country should end.
