By "working families" I do not mean the oft used self-contradictory DNC code word for 'welfare families' but families that actually work and pay taxes. Looks like the elderly lobby continues to score bennies at the expense of real income producers.

The money quote as Andrew Sullivan would say...
"economists Laurence Kotlikoff and Jagadeesh Gokhale say that a typical man reaching age 65 today will get a net windfall of more than $70,000 over his remaining years. A luckless 25-year-old, by contrast, can count on paying $322,000 more in payroll taxes than he will ever get back in benefits."

But as long as the Democratic party remains the party of entitlements for votes and as long as the Republican party is hungrier for re-election and power over principal, this will get worse. Just like Europe.
